About

We knew this was going to be our new home the moment we saw it. Our realtor warned us as went went in that the house came with baggage (and possibly a lot of junk) but we weren't deterred.

After many months, the house-hunt has ended and a new adventure has begun … to transform the “rough” into the “diamond.”

Our new bungalow, located in the Fraser Valley of B.C. and built in 1945, was just what we were looking for – a cozy nest where we can indulge our love of all things vintage and put our skills to work.

We plan to renovate, decorate, thrift, upcycle, re-purpose, DIY, and create our way into our dream home all on a minimal budget and with an eye to making things unique and fun – and we hope you’ll follow along for the ride.

We’re a young (30-something is still young, right?) couple: I’m Lisa, an auto upholsterer by trade who dabbles in furniture upholstery and event design and he’s Derrick, an all-around automotive genius who’s spent many years in classic automotive restoration and recently moved into working with performance parts.

We’ve created this blog to share the progress on the house, and to feature budget-friendly DIY projects and ideas. We hope you’ll find some inspiration here that may lead to something new and unique in your own home.

So come back and visit us often.

And away we go!
